Well thought out app
I use this app extensively for my business. I have 13 workers and have to fax all of them on the daily basis. I like how the app takes numbers and names from your contacts and makes it really easy to fax or email them. It's quite intuitive/easy to use. A couple of cons would be that when I fax something to my home fax machine, we often will have blank or partial faxes come through. And, when I say 'often', sometimes it can be like every 3rd or 4th fax. I had my cable/phone company come out to the house and check our lines, so I really don't think it's a problem on our end. Also, sometimes when we email the faxes to my workers, they won't get the emails. Very frustrating. Not sure if that is an issue with the app or the email program. But, I have been meaning to call Ring Central and see if they can make any sense out of this. A week ago I started a free trial with eFax. Let me tell you, that service/app is not nearly as good as Ring Central. But, all of our faxes are complete and we don't have partial or blank faxes. So, I'm kind of on a fence here regarding what to do. But, when the app works as advertised, it's outstanding.
Data Deletion!!!
I have a mobile healthcare practice and I use this app for 100% of my patient contacts as well as text communications when I’m on the road. One day my app was not properly recording the area codes on my received phone calls. When I called tech-support he told me that I needed to uninstall my app and then reinstall again from the App Store. I specifically asked him if all of my data, text messages, and patient contacts would be protected? He replied, of course they would since everything is saved in the cloud. So then I proceeded to uninstall the app and then reinstall it again. When I reinstalled it I immediately noticed that EVERYTHING was deleted. All of my patient contact information, text messages, everything. When I called back to speak to the supervisor he was quick to say that yes, everything will be deleted upon reinstallation of the app on my iPhone. I couldn’t believe it! I could not believe that the RingCentral text support is so untrained at what they do. Either that, or the guy flat out lied to me. Needless to say, this has cost me countless hours as well as lost money in revenue due to my having no way to contact my patients from my mobile device. The customer service supervisor only said that he was sorry but there is nothing he could do. UNACCEPTABLE!!!

Bugs
For quite a while (two plus years) and across multiple phones the same issue appears randomly and it’s a significant one. Occasionally I walk into my office after being out of town several days to find voicemails on my desk phone that are not pushed to the app. Typically there would be a notification on my phone, like the “1” over the icon. But sometimes it doesn’t.
When I go into the app and refresh the inbox, the new VM shows up. However, that’s too late and certainly the intent of push notifications is so we don’t have to jump into programs and hit refresh.
Our whole organization uses RC and I’ve confirmed this issue with others previously. I’ve reported it to our IT group and I believe they’ve logged it as an issue with RC before. Ultimately, as a customer-facing person, this issue is a big deal. Hoping that it’s resolved as I’ve found RC to be very effective for us otherwise.

Was great, getting progressively worse
This was the perfect softphone app. All the things 'missing' (as claimed in other reviews) are there- you just need to spend a couple minutes, at most, reading the docs to discover them. You can interact with phone menus just by typing, you can mute, transfer, etc.
The problem is that the dev is now adding unwanted 'features' while breaking other features. And it's started to crash - not frequently, but before, it *never* did.
It's still head and shoulders above every other client I was able to find when I checked them all out a couple years ago. If this keeps up though, I'll have to start checking them out again. :-( Maybe one has gotten better.

Developer Response,
My intention certainly wasn’t to add crashes. Please write me an email to [email protected] to help me solve this problem.
Did work well.
No issues at all with function as VOIP client.
Took me less than a minite to hook up to my VOIP system.
One minor problem is the lack of a mute button sincd OS X doesn't provide any reasonable way of muting the microphone.
—————————--
Revised rating: down to three stars.
This used to be close to perfect, minimal but all the functionality required of a basic VOIP phone app.
However, it has now moved to subscription model (I would gladly pay for the application, but subscription? Never!).
It still works without a subscription, but nags each time it is launched.
A new “feature” is a list of previous calls. I don’t want this. In particular, I don’t want a list of who I have been talking with displayed on my screen for all the world to see.
The number of previous calls made is limited in the non-subscription version, but neither version seems to have the ability to completely suppress this unwanted “feature”.
For over a year, there have been promises of new functionality (for subscribers). None seem to have materialized, it has just been left in this annoying state.
Actively looking for a replacement.

Fixed my problem
This app did not itinaially work for me. The developer worked very closely with me and finally figured out the problem (was in my configuration, not the program).
Works fine for a basic VOIP program. Only 3 stars because the UI is a bit clunky.
